I believe that teaching and learning are collaborative journeys where the child, the educator, the environment, and the community all play essential roles. Inspired by Reggio Emilia principles and child-centred play therapy, my approach values relationships, curiosity, and the natural potential within every child.
The Child
At the heart of my philosophy is the belief that every child is capable, curious, and full of potential. Children are co-constructors of knowledge who learn best through play, exploration, and meaningful relationships. They have rights, voices, and perspectives that must be honoured. Play is their language, and through it they express ideas, emotions, and creativity.
The Educator
As an educator, I see myself not as someone who simply delivers knowledge, but as a co-learner, observer, and reflective communicator. My role is to foster a lifelong love of learning, build on each child’s strengths, and create opportunities for growth. I learn alongside children, listening to their questions and supporting them in making sense of their world.
The Environment
The environment is the third teacher. A well-designed space inspires curiosity, creativity, and exploration. It must be safe, accessible, and flexible to respond to children’s needs. I value environments that are bright, welcoming, and rich in nature, where children can feel free to explore and take risks in their learning.
The Community
Community is the first teacher. Families and community members are partners in children’s education, extending learning beyond the classroom. A supportive and nurturing community provides children with belonging, connection, and a sense of security. I view the community as an extended classroom where collaboration enriches children’s experiences.
Bringing it Together
My philosophy embraces the idea that education is not about filling minds with information but about creating spaces where children’s voices are heard, their rights are respected, and their potential is nurtured. By honouring the roles of child, educator, environment, and community, I strive to create learning experiences that are inclusive, meaningful, and deeply connected to the world children live in.
